Lori Trentacoste

Lori Trentacoste, MA,FAAA,CCC/A.  Lori graduated with a Master's degree from the University of Buffalo in 1996.  Lori is Board Certified and has been a part of Island Better Hearing since her dad, Bob Trentacoste, began the Practice back in 1972, making Island Better Hearing one of the oldest family owned and operated audiology and hearing aid dispensing practice in the tri state area.  Lori has been actively involved in many professional organizations locally and nationally such as the ADA, ASHA, LISHA, ABA, etc.  Lori works with other local agencies which includes the County Early Intervention program and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.  She is on the Board of Directors for the Hearing Care Group, a local agency of Audiologists/Practice Owners who work to increase consumer awareness to Hearing loss and current trends in hearing aid technology.  Lori is a Consultant at the Gurwin Nursing home, and the Birchwood Nursing and Assisted Living.  She consults with several school districts to include Huntington, South Huntington and Half Hollow Hills and Kings Park Schools.  She is responsible for educating staff and personnel about hearing loss and technology.  Lori conducts testing of the school children to determine educational needs and works with the teachers to improve the classroom environment for ease in learning.  Lori has worked with many local physicians.  She has been working in the office of Dr. Robert Feld in the Huntington area for over 13 years conducting hearing testing, VNG, ABR and hearing aid evaluations and fittings. 

 
Lori has been married for 17 years and has two children ages 13 and 10.  Lori and her dad still enjoy working together after so many years. 

 
Tara Mazzone , M.S., CCC-A, Licensed Audiologist.  Tara graduated from Queens College with a B.A. in 1998 and Adelphi University with an M.S., in 2000.  Tara has been working with Island Better Hearing since October 2001.  Prior to that she completed her Clinical Fellowship year at St. Charles Hospital.  Currently Tara works with individuals that range in age from 8 weeks to 105 years.  While at Queens College Tara was President in 1998 of the NYSSLHA Queens College Chapter on Campus.  While involved with NYSSHLA, Tara organized various fund raisers and participated in programs for children with Autism while receiving her Bachelors from Queens College.  Also while at Queens College, Tara formed a group that volunteered time spent in a local high school in Queens working with the special education students.  Tara's involvement with LISHA, which is an organization for speech-language pathologists and audiologists, involved planning and conducting continuing education programs for professionals on Long Island.  Tara has been an active member of ASHA (American Speech Hearing Association) since 2000.  She is also Board Certified and licensed with NY State as a practicing Audiologist and Hearing Aid Dispenser.  Also while working with Island Better Hearing, Tara sees Residents at Gurwin Jewish Geriatric Center as their audiological consultant and also works at a local Otolaryngologist's office as his in house audiologist.
 
Becoming an Audiologist was almost second nature for Tara who grew up in a home here on Long Island with a loving mother who was born with a hearing loss.  As a child, to watch her mother with the daily struggles and cope with hearing and visual disabilities, paved the way for Tara to become an audiologist with firsthand experience and compassion for all individuals.  Currently Tara is married to her husband Rich for over 5 years.  Rich and Tara have a beautiful daughter Vanessa who is 3 years old.
